Hopefully someone can help with the following:
When attending my night shift last night my covering manager came to ask me why I had not attended work last Friday. I laughed and told him that I had not worked a Friday in over five years due to having a Job Share with another employee who would cover this day for me. He explained how an Unauthorised Absence was now showing on the PC System.
He seems to think that my previous Job Share agreement has now waived due to the last Resign for the office which kicked in last Monday and that I should return to working a five day week instead of my usual Monday to Thursday nights.
I was given a 'Flow through' on the resign where I kept my current duty for two reasons - One my seniority and the other being registered DDA for Type 2 Diabetes.
The guy who was covering my Job Share on the Friday is currently on a Career Break but is still employed by the company.
I had also previously put in writing to a resource manager that working more than 32 hours a week would be of detriment to my health due to my condition.
Any thoughts on the above?

Re: Lost Job Share - After Recent Resign?
The guy has been on a career break for over a year and it had not posed any problems as cover for the Friday was done by existing staff. It is an official Job Share which has been sanctioned by the office. For a duty which is 40 hours, I did 32 hours and the other guy 8.
My question is why should a resign dissolve such an existing agreement? Especially when I was given a 'Flow Through' agreement on the duty.

The problem would appear to be that the modernisation plan for your office has not taken into account the "flow through" but in any case it would have to be agreed and I would have thought the unit rep would have approached you about any change especially if you had official sanction for the flow through. If you are only contracted for 32 hours and your current duty is Mon to Thu for that period of time then why would you be required to work Fri unless of course they wanted you to work four days and that would mean no change to your hours but may be a change to the days. In which case the duty remains the same, the hours remain the same but the days are changed which would be inconvenient but would not intrinsically affect your disability.jimmyrh1976 wrote:The guy has been on a career break for over a year and it had not posed any problems as cover for the Friday was done by existing staff. Re: Lost Job Share - After Recent Resign?
Thanks for your input.
I will speak to the office resourcing manager tonight and also another union rep.
It is looking likely I might have to rely on my DDA/Diabetes to guarantee keeping my Fridays off.
