re-deployment.
I,m currently awaiting to be assessed by atos for my capabilities for my duty. ive told the dom I just cannot complete a full delivery anymore due to both knees being replaced 2 yrs ago...I can do about 3.5 hours on the street, the rest of my day is taken up by prepping 2 duties in the morning then delivery. then back to either prep in d2ds or kill offs. I have no problem working my full shift of 8hrs 50 a day. but I just can't do a full delivery. been in with him and the rep to try to get something sorted, but it looks as if he,s going for redeployment, stating its going to be too difficult to keep me in my present role under this duty structure. the current delivery span is 4.45 hrs. however, he also says that if there is no work available down the mail centre, I could be looking at ihr. surely if I am capable of doing a full shift, but there is no suitable work then this would be ''redundancy'' and not, ill health retirement. I was under the impression that under disability, they had to make reasonable adjustments to a duty. I don't think this is unreasonable. Ive been in touch with the branch on the reps advice, but the guy who,s clued up on this sort of thing is on the sick at present....any advice please??

Royal Mail being the large organization it is should have very little difficulty in redeploying you or finding alternate positions within the buisness, but then again... it is Royal Fail we're talking about

They have to try, they are under no obligation to succeed in every case.daveyeff wrote: I was under the impression that under disability, they had to make reasonable adjustments to a duty.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The first step is to have your condition assessed by OH Assist ( ATOS) and their report with recommendations will confirm if your condition falls within the guidelines of the Equality Act 2010.
Taking that you have had both knees replaced then your condition would certainly not be suitable for a duty structure with a delivery span of 4.45 hours and an alternative arrangement would have to be made in relation to your condition.
Within the list of determining disability is the climbing of stairs and gradients that would cause severe pain and therefore would expect you to be covered by the Equality Act but this will be the decision of OH Assist.
RM would have to attempt to ring fence a duty for you and also offer a suitable alternative duty if available and as already posted by another due to the size and administration of the business this should not be difficult.
Dependant on your age and length of service in the calculation of redundancy this would have to be compared against IHR package to find which one gives the better financial reward.
