checking your sick level

Hello
im on 2 weeks sick after having varicose vein surgery when I come back do I need to contact the Occupational health people before I come back?
also I was on a stage 1 last year but im not sure I had some sick in march....is there anyway I can get a copy of my sick record to check??
I have to some more surgey in october and am worried I could be put on a third stage the the sack.!

Call HR it's on the back of your payslip don't know if they make a note of it though.

A proper employer would regard your surgery as a positive thing for the business - you will come back healthier.
A mean-spirited employer will view it as an opportunity to beat you with.
The Attendance Procedure isn't an extension of the Conduct Code, it is there to encourage good attendance .......

The 2 absences due to surgery should be counted as one absence as they are clearly related and shouldn't incur 2 stage warnings.
You can't go from stage 1 to stage 3 on the back of two related absences.
They shouldn't incur one stage warning ...... but might.

You would have to be referred to OH Assist by RM who would allocate a file reference number.
OH Assist would give recommendations on a phased return to work, modified duties if needed and a rehabilitation plan.
In relation to further treatment in October for your varicose veins this would be classed as corrective surgery and part of your on-going treatment and should not be counted separately in relation to your days absence in incurring further stage warnings.

You can ask your manager to refer you to OHAssit (was ATOS). This may stand you in good stead at your attendance review. The fact that you have been pro-active in trying to improve your attendance.
