Temporary duty, Can you give it back

hello,

Basically around 18th months ago i applied for a duty advertised as temporary duties around 20 of them available. I got one which meant i was no longer a reserve.
The thing is after christmas want to cancel it and go back to my old reserve duty which would mean an increase of around 2 hours. Can i cancel or hand back temporary duty
is this allowed. I know one collegue who also got a one of those temporary duty and who handed his back after a few months, but because ive been doing mine close to 2 years now does that make a difference?.

The question is did you sign for this temporary duty and was there a termination date on the temporary duty.

yes i signed for it and no their was no termination date. I asked my union rep about it today was told i can give it back any time i want as it was
advertised as Temporary.
