I don't think is legitimate as I am doing Firms Collections which I believe is a specialist duty and they can't move my around and put my on delivery. Thanks for your advice.
Firms Collection is not a specialist duty.
DOM can legitimately move you under operational needs, if there is someone else doing a similar duty to yourself and DOM isnt moving you both equally(without good reason) then you have grounds for a grievance, but if its to allow someone to work on a rehab plan for a few weeks or months then sorry but you dont really have much grounds, just work to your time and dont go over, end of the day your scheduled working hours wont change

Re: Being taken off my duty
Think I'd push that the staff shortage in the locker should be addressed before any one should be moved, especially if the colleague can do the locker duty.
Having said that I totally agree that it's unfair that you should be moved but what's specialist about walking into a firm, picking mail up then walking out again ?

the callers office duty might not be suitable for his rehab plan hence moving you

Just thought driving only duties which we are trained twice a year to perform them were specialist dutiested_e_bear wrote:Think I'd push that the staff shortage in the locker should be addressed before any one should be moved, especially if the colleague can do the locker duty.

Re: Being taken off my duty
If this is a short term arrangement maybe best to go with it. If your hours are the same and it's just work content that is changing see it as a way of helping a colleague back to work. There was a fairly recent Employment Appeal Tribunal decision about moving someone permanently which said basically you could ask someone to change to accommodate a disability but you couldn't force them.

They can change the content of your duty but, they can't change your hours.
They can't take you off a late shift and put you on an early delivery duty if you have signed for that duty.

Re: Being taken off my duty
Unfortunately DDA, rehab etc get priority, if someone has limited capabilities Royal Mail has a legal obligation to accommodate them and find work they can do, unfortunately this can sometimes override seniority but the law is the law. If it is just rehab then ask your dom how long this rehab is expected to take.
Having said this, it doesn't mean don't put up a fight, argue at other possible jobs this person could do which would result in not having to move you.

Re: Being taken off my duty
I understand that Rehab takes priority but it's a mayor change in my attendance patterns, I do late shifts and been told to do early shifts in short notice. Also after a groin operation lift 14 kg sacks and push 250 kg yorks wouldn't be optimal for recovery.coxie wrote:Unfortunately DDA, rehab etc get priority, if someone has limited capabilities Royal Mail has a legal obligation to accommodate them and find work they can do, unfortunately this can sometimes override seniority but the law is the law. You and your dom are not doctors, what you think or he thinks as not being optimal for recovery is irrelevant, what ever said person has agreed with oh assist is what he should do
As for you attendance pattern changing that's a no no, get your rep to put in a grievance about it, at worst you should be given several weeks notice of the change to your hours

This happened the day before yesterday when I contacted my local representative, he said I'll call you back, still waiting. Try to reach Area rep no luck till this morning, said the same and still waiting.zx135 wrote:

Has anyone told you to change your start time for tomorrow?
and if so who was it and what did you say back to them when they told you?
