The last lot of management cuts (1600) were non operational managers - i.e not DOMs.

Our LM is working his 13 weeks notice, I believe he is being made redundant in October. One of the very few decent managers too I wonder if that is why he was chosen for a redundancy?

I went in the first round of cuts - voluntarily.

Pretty painless process, and waiting to see if my shares got sold today by Equiniti, as instructed.

I was a 'support' manager (i.e. non-ops). Sadly, I really do fear for my ex-colleagues who remained.

At least, for the moment, it's not you lot in the line of fire. I think that's about as positive as I can be.

fortunately ,unlike most managers us posties have too much work to do not too little! And now we are on the run up to christmas that aint changing any time soon.

By the end of September, ten managers are taking voluntary redundancy from Bristol Mail Centre. The ten represent 20% of the total and come mainly from the late and early shift. They are now taking their remaining holiday or in jobs which are unimportant, waiting to go. A few of them were involved in the bully and harassment peak around 2009 so nice to get rid, the worst though are going to stay. More redundancies were wanted by higher management but the CMA successfully avoided this for now. Apparently there will be vacancies for new deputy managers to cover leave/sick. Talking of going sick, one manager who must have taken a total of five years sick in the time I've worked here left yesterday, with his final position at Royal Mail as Early Shift Manager. Going sick more than anyone else certainly had no affect on his redundancy amount as he received £107,000, and being 60 years old said he would not bother to work again.

Our Dom has told us he has been informed that plans are being drawn up to leave units with less than 30 members of staff without s manager. He claims that the present PHGs will be offered an allowance. Personally I think this bollocks, has anyone heard anything similar.

It doesn't matter if you fail York fulls of work anymore does it. Another very jammy voluntary redundancy about two weeks ago. A part time postman on 20 hours a week for 16 years got a job as a full time letters administrator about 9 months ago. When offered redundancy was given the full time rate for 16 years + and got £32,000. If you had been full time for 16 years you would only have got the same amount of redundancy as them.

We have the Radio Tomes on subscription, which was always delivered on a on a Tuesday. Since Bristol now handles all of GL's mail we often don't get it till Wednesday. No, it's not a big deal, just pointing it out. But what else mail is being delivered " late " ? Hospital appointments, plane tickets, etc. etc.
