IHR (ill Heath retirement)

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I have been off sick for 3 months with damage to knees and now been put forward for IHR as it is inoperable so may never return to full duty. Have tried light duties for 3 weeks put still severely painfull. MRI scan shows severe proximal patella tendonitis with fat pad damage and possible minor meniscal tear.
My question is, I have only been in the business for 18 months on a 30 hrs contract and have had different variations of what lump sum I would get. If anyone can advise?

I also have a Atos doctor giving me a telephone assessment on 26th of this month so if anyone has been through this and give me advise I would be grateful?

The agreement seems fairly straightforward to me. You won't get IHR with immediate payment of your pension because with only 18 months in the job you're not a member of the RMPP. But you should be entitled to 'retirement on ill health grounds with a lump sum compensation payment'. Which would be a payment of 34 weeks pay plus you may get a few weeks PILON(payment in lieu of notice).

Out of curiosity do you get taxed on IHR? I ask as I've been off sick and my manager is telling me if I don't return soon I may be made to take it. Thanks

No not in my experience with IHR, also you DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE IT there is an appeal process
