mtsf - evr and vr terms?

Post by 11aaa222 »

Anyone know when the mtsf and current evr and vr terms are due to expire and will be up for review?

Also any on know of any progress on the new incentive scheme recently in the new agreement that was due to be in by april 2014?

MTFS 2 reviewd in January 2015.

At present the incentive scheme has taken a back burner due to the mail drop. For example a vacant 39 hour duty,(once measured), is not a 39 hour duty anymore, more like 30. This is mail centre and delivery.Collections and network are "bulking out" though.
So there-fore the CWU national officers are attempting to keep meaningful employment a top priority. The trouble is no-one can measure the mail impact over 3 months,it keeps changing. I would sit tight for a bit. Some major changes occurring as well as Ofcom wanting us to be "more efficient" and of course we now have share holders!

What do you understand by Ofcoms 'more efficient? I know 2 guys who work for TNT,they aint any more efficient nor do they get rid of all their deliveries on the day to a neighbour or otherwise. They just get paid less than me and have to put up with the likes of losing a weeks holiday in return for repair costs of any van they may have damaged. They work for TNT through a sub contractor who buys the vans and then employs the drivers.

The savings made from the non existent terms and conditions and lower wages in the above TNT operation cant be equalled in Royal Mail by increasing efficency as both sets of workers are roughly performing at the same level. So either we are paid too much and have to except some family unfriendly flexibility and seasonal hours or the share holders expectations have to be dialled down by any means available.

With the physical nature of delivery an ageing workforce isnt gonna match efficiency aspirations by increasing their work load so I guess the efficiency must come from elsewhere or the break up of the USO.Saying all that its been quietish in my office for the last 4 weeks but up until that point its been more than busy since August last year so im not hitting/buying the vacant 39 hour duty is now a 30 hour duty panic button just yet.

Agreed in some areas of the country,it is roughly the same mail make up as last year. However within the M25 that is the worst hit. Ofcom statement with efficiency is a difficult one. They need to understand the offset with wages,(high). Now some believe those very same wages may be more managers then OPG's.

I don't buy into what I am told,(managers mean revenue),I mean what I see,(workload). However we shall see.If I'm wrong I'm wrong. However it is just what I see in offices where the other letter carriers/letter processing/collections are working.

We've been told part time staff can't have evr surely that's discrimination? Must be same rights for all staff I took buy down found another job just want to get paid off now been there too long to leave with nothing.

VR/EVR was offered to Full and Part Time staff whenever there was a VR/EVR trawl at Mount Pleasant MC. I think it would be regarded as discrimination not to, though I suppose RM would have to be taken to Court to enforce this.

I thought I read somewhere (on here?) that this had been extended to May 2015.

It is not discrimination if you are removing a full time job in deliveries and therefore you offer VR to a full time duty. To gain redundancies you have to have a surplus of staff and if that surplus is full time then you offer a full time redunacy. If in a mail centre you simply do not have enough workload and you need a reduction in hours then you can let full and part time staff go on redunacy !

So dingo, if DOs only offer VR to FT staff, does that mean they can't then recruit any more PT staff?

The current costing in of a VR is if you reduce a full time VR by 39 hours and then back fill the full timer with a 24 hour part time contract. Even then Royal Mail don't make the hours back for nearly 3 years as the average cost of a VR is 50 Grand.

The problem for Royal Mail is that very few now want a buy down due to it now being taxable and Royal Mail still need the delivery part of a duty coverd but not the indoor which means you cannot allow a part time VR

Going to get very interesting when all the part time staff find better job's as some have degrees and were only doing this job for desperation now the options are more where is royalmail with there work them till they drop approach!
