RE: MR MIKE HOGAN - FORMER NATIONAL OFFICER



It is with great sadness I write to inform branches that Mike Hogan, former National Officer, has died after a period of illness.

A number of branch officers and activists will know that Mike served the union for many years at every level. He started his employment with the Post Office as a Postman in 1961 and was a member of the Milngavie and Bearsden Branch.

He held various local and regional positions within Scotland and following a move to London became an Assistant Secretary PHG (ECDO), delegate to London District Council and held the position of District Organiser. In 1986 he was elected to the union's National Executive Council. In 1990 Mike was elected as an Assistant Secretary in the Postal Department. He was re-elected to this position until his retirement from the union in 2001.

Mike Hogan was awarded the union's National Honorary Membership in 2002.

At this sad time our thoughts are with Mike's family and friends. I have on behalf of the CWU conveyed our deepest sympathy and condolences to them.

Mike Hogan, Former National Officer – Funeral Arrangements

Further to LTB 448/14, I am writing to inform branches of the arrangements which have been made for Mike Hogan’s funeral.
  
The full details are as follows:

Date: Wednesday 16th July 2014
Time: 10am – 11am, Service at Church
Location: St Thomas Canterbury Church, 557-599 High Road,
Woodford Green, Essex, IG8 0RB

This will be followed by a committal at Chigwell Cemetery, Manor Road, Chigwell, IG7 5PS from 11am.
 
The reception will commence at 11.30am and will be held at The Horse and Well, 566 – 568 Woodford Green, IG8 OPS.

The family have requested no floral tributes but have asked that any donations be made to Brú Columbanus, which is an independent charity providing “home from home” accommodation for relatives of seriously ill patients in Cork hospitals and the hospice.
