Manager cancelling OPG leave

A woman in our office had booked this Saturday off for a wedding several weeks ago .She has been told by her manager that he is struggling to cover jobs this week so he said I will credit back your Saturday & give it to you as your day off this week .However she is not happy she is a reserve on a crap job this week & wants her day off & the day she booked as leave on Saturday .I have told her he can't do that without her agreement ,amI right ?

grey area technically he can by law as long as he gives correct notice, if he is doing it she should raise a grievance if anyone else has not had theirs cancelled also

This isn't an easy one. Technically, an employer can rescind an agreement by serving at least twice as much notice of doing so as the amount of holiday booked. They should only do so if there are business reasons for having to do this - but it does seem that the employer has some point to their decision on this basis. However, if this then involves a financial loss to the employee then the employee may have a civil claim of damages against the employer. Which doesn't really answer your question because you don't want to have to sue the employer for the money back - and it possibly isn't healthy to do so either!

If I've read it correctly - she isn't losing out financially.
She is being given the day off as agreed to attend the wedding but as her rotational day off instead of a day annual leave.
She wants 2 days off that week.

She should tell the manager that she sympathies with his predicament, but that she will have to take her rotational day off.
The Hen Party is the night before, and that she will be in no fit state to carry out her duties.
