New contract

I am just coming to the end of my first 6 month contract, and have received a new permanent contract in the post. This contract says I have continuous employment from 25/11/2013, as I would expect. However, under the Rate of Pay section it says "your starting pay will be at the rate of £255.28 per week". This is already the rate I am getting and I thought it would increase after 6 months and again at 12 months? That is what the original job advert said.
Will the increase in pay (to £9.61 per hour) happen automatically? Or does the change of contract mean I have to wait another 6 months?

I do want the contract and am happy to have got permanent, I just don't want to sign and return it if is not right!

On a related note, I have asked the manager if I can go to full time instead of part time (32 hours), as I work covering full-time positions and book 7 hours overtime to bring me up to full time every week. But I am getting frustrated that in effect I am doing a full time job but without the full time benefits (i.e. the delivery supplement and holiday entitlement are pro rata. I know this isn't much but it adds up!) which feels so unfair. I thought there was something in the new agreement that said hours should be reviewed? The new contract is again for 32 hours.

if you do 7 hours overtime your delivery supp and any extra will be included making you effectively the same as full timer. Any overtime over 7 hours will be at a reduced rate.

the only disadvantage will be when u get xmas bons, or holiday / sick pay if you do continuous overtime.

I wouldn't worry about not getting any notification of the pay increases as they'll be automatic. If it gets to six months on the dot and the extra 50p/hr isn't there in the payslip though, get complaining.

The six months on the dot is the start of the new contract, that is why I was wondering if it should say the next level of pay rate. I will be keeping a close eye on the payslip though. (as always!)

The extra 55p/hour (approx.) that is the delivery supplement is included in your overtime rate up to 39 hours.
