no acknowledgment of stage 1 or stage 2 grievance

Help. I put in a stage one grievance about being denied due process for interview for a job, (after waiting 7 months from close of applications date). I requested for it to be handled 'out of line' due to circumstances. Two weeks later, I had not received anything from anyone to acknowledge receipt for this, so I put in a stage 2 about it, stating that the stage 1 had been ignored. I have now waited 17 days and not had an acknowledgement for that either.. Neither from HR or from the manager it was sent to. What do I do now please? Never in my life had any experience of greivances so completely at a loss as to what to do. Union rep not had any response either to date.. except to be told that the stage one was passed to somebody to look at, coincidentally on the same day I posted the stage 2....? though they never did contact me with any acknowledgment of this..

email moya, that will probably speed things up a bit or at least get you an acknowledgement pretty quiclky

This will be following the same route as most stage 1 and 2 grievances at Royal mail, that is it will be filed in the bin.

As zx135 says send a polite request to Moya asking her to investigate on your behalf... give her the details of when and who you sent your original grievances to... you should be allocated someone from her senior team... anyway, that's what happened for me and after of months (yes, months) I finally had my grievances heard... unfortunately it was a total whitewash!

Cheers everyone. Looks like an email may be the next step... Adding insult to injury is not the answer to any grievance. Hmm. its all a bit annoying, to say the least, when they cant bide by their own rules! Will maybe start with a call to HR in morning and make decisions thereafter. A grievance about being made feel irrelevant is treated as irrelevant.. Ohhh the irony! Thank you all for you time and consideration with this. Greatly appreciated.

I feel your pain! My grievance is about undoubted disability discrimination from a Manager sent beginning of April, re-sent middle of April - had acknowledgement at last yesterday (end of April) it said - 'in the process of appointing investigating officer' - one month and got nowhere - and this is so serious they have actually made it impossible for me to go to work but no phone calls no letters and grievance ignored - it is genuinely disgusting.

thanks for that lollollol - Yes that's exactly what I am doing - can't even believe it myself but it seems this kind of story is far too common in RM. Its Just so frustrating and hurtful to be put in such a position.

So much for the new procedures and a culture of can do, except when it comes to dealing with managers who continue to treat all agreements with a cant do culture.

when i put in a stage 1 and 2 grievance ,, i sent a copy to the union informing them that i was putting in a grievance and i informed my area rep about it ,, then when i sent in my grievance ,, special delivery ,, i put in a covering letter informing them i had also sent copies to the union who would be monitoring it ,, i got an acknowledgement pretty fast

Unfortunately it doesn't always work - My Area rep has been involved from the start - my DOM knows I wouldn't do anything without union support and yet he still thinks he knows best!

Trouble is DOM's got away with this kind of stuff so often with others and even I have given in to his discriminating ways in the past rather than cause trouble. He thinks he's invincible!

Believe me he is not getting away with it this time!
