Have seen ,children of managers work in same office as Fathers who work in same office, and relatives of union rep get special treatment as well

It's the norm if you originated from the Indian sub-continent, and despite the long-standing guidelines I've never seen anyone tackle the problem yet.

There is nothing wrong with anyone giving someone else a gift so long as what they are giving is theirs to give.

There is something very wrong with managers giving their friends and family jobs because these jobs belong to the people who own the company (private sector) or the general public (public sector), not the individual managers. Our managers are alike because they are allowed to decide who gets appointed so they choose people who share their outlook. Interviews should be replaced by lottery to select a candidate from all of those who meet the job criteria. Managers should not have the power to appoint because it is too much power.
