SA Holiday back pay and new SA holiday payments next tax yr

Lionel Sampson, Senior Policy Advisor was kind enough to reply to an e mail I sent him regarding our SA holiday back pay which is due asap.
He also made comments regarding our new SA holiday payments for the next tax year, which I thought I would share with you.

The new arrangements regarding the payment of SA holiday pay fundamentally change the current agreement which as you are no doubt aware is contained as part of the Way Forward Agreement. Additionally the changes which have been the subject of ongoing talks with Royal Mail are also introducing a uniform method of payment across all of the various business units. Therefore there is a need to report the actions taken by the negotiators to the Postal Executive.


In relation Royal Mail they are currently working on the back pay arrangements which when I last spoke to them was targeted for payment towards the end of April all things going well. I’m not in a position to comment of the staffing resource RM are putting in to this element of work I’m assuming it is the correct level as they seem pretty keen to conclude this work, I must stress that’s only my opinion.


So at the time of replying to you we are still planning to hold a special PEC meeting to clear the Joint Statement and for this to then be circulated to branches for information and onward communication.


Hope the above goes someway to explaining the background as to why this matter needs to be reported to the PEC.

So, they want to pay us out S/A back pay by the end of April.
Funny how the are able to take back and work out overpayments the very next payday!
That cash is ours, and they are sitting gaining interest on it.
They have been due us this cash for a while now, no wonder folk get pi!!ed off with these jokers!

You are right to have a rant,the money is owed to us and if we owed rm money they would work it out very quickly,and our union let them get away with it or are easily fobbed off,it took a few wks to work out everybodys back pay,this is going to take a few months,sorry not acceptable

I have been told by a number of staff that in our office (Edinburgh Mail Centre), anybody who had a drivers SA received their back pay last week - 14th March!

I am not talking about the ord SA back pay, but the SA Holiday back pay. I have since contacted Hum res, who now inform me that they don't even have a firm time frame for the end of April 2014!

Being an LGV Driver I get paid monthly and we were led to believe that our back pay for holiday/SA etc would be paid the end of March. On Saturday pay slip arrived for paying into my account on the 31st, surprise surprise, no holiday back pay . The deputy rep last night told me it could be end of April or May as he had been informed they are running behind because everyone has to be worked out individually.

Just been on the phone to Human Resources, no back money this week either I'm affraid folk!
The female I spoke to on the phone didn't even know what I was talking about!
And couldn't give me any dates for this years payment dates, other than that she was very helpfull!

Anyone heard anything about the back pay for holiday and backdated O/T for working in excess of 10 hours as per last agreement, have not heard anything and the reps seem to be in the dark about it as well.
