Law is only 20 mins to be made available before going out, other 20 can be taken whenever . . . . . local arrangements can differ, it's up to the dom . . . . get your rep to negotiate better arrangements

Why on earth would you want 20 mins before you go out and 20 mins after. We are working an 8 hour shift so we should have at least 40 mins either before you go out or at the end. Our dim told us the same but we all shouted him down and said "how can we cook a hot snack in 20 mins", you should have a proper break over 8 hours not just tea & cake. He gave in so some had a break before going out and some had one when they came back.....simple, stick together and you will win. After all the dims don't want to much hassle, they are only failed postmen.............HEH HEH HEH  C.O.Y.S.

THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO ANNOY AND FRUSTRATE US,WE ALL KNOW WE WANT FINISHED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE ,BY ENFORCING LATER STARTS AND MEAL BREAKS,THIS IS LENTHENING OUR DAY. SAD PEOPLE , A DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO BREAK OUR SPIRIT AND RESOLVE, WE WILL NOT BE BROKEN JUST SMILE AT THEM , ENJOY YOUR BREAK RELAX, THE PRESSURE IS ON THEM , DO NOT LET THEM ANTAGONIZE US , THEY ARE TRYING TO DRIVE US ONTO UNOFFICAL ACTION. BY BULLYING TACTICS, A GOOD GENERAL KNOWS WHEN TO GO TO WAR, WE WILL CONTROL WHEN WE STRIKE NOT THEM, XMAS IS COMING DEAR ALAN AND ADAM , SOFTLY SOFTLY CATCH THE MONKEY

can't take full 40 mins at end of duty as law states we must have at least 20mins made available within the first 5 hours of work

The point is, billypants, what does it matter if they insist on you having your break before you go out. Your meal break is YOUR MEALBREAK, not a snack break. If they want you to have a break before you go out have the full 40 mins, you will still be cutting off at the end of your time. I think most of this meal break crap is brought up by the runners who still want to be finnished in time so they can watch Trisha on the box................C.O.Y.S.

Hey, I'm with you . . . . take all your breaks plus any more you can get away with, why rush around and go like the clappers when you get paid no more . . . . I'm just letting people know the laws involved as I understand them.

And more importantly . . . . what the f**k does C.O.Y.S. mean at the end of your posts ?

Who cares what the law says.........if they want you to have a break before you go out, take the full 40 mins. In our office, like many others we have no canteen just a cooker and boiler [mind you she aint that bad ], so we need the full time to cook something hot, which you need now the weather is getting colder. IF YOU RUN OUT OF TIME ON DELIVERY.........CUT OFF. C.O.Y.S. :so there
