Re: owed holidays
Hi, I don't think you can rolll them over to next years holidays , ie you will have to take them before 1/4/14 so your DOM will need to fit you in

Re: owed holidays
i am now owed 11 days hols from over 2 yrs ago
as not being one of the golden children i do not get many approved requests for leave due to mgmt discretion
is there a time limit in which they must be taken or can mgmt be allowed to abuse owed days indefinately to suit their own agenda

Re: owed holidays
I am not employed by Royal Mail but i will give my opinion on this. Royal Mail cannot stop you taking your holiday. There will be a statutory obligation of a 28 days minimum requirement. Any excess holiday entitlement above statutory will be a contractual measure as to your contract of employment. Any breach will be statutory or a contractual breach.

Re: owed holidays
There's several in our DO who gave up some of their holidays to help cover sick leave, they are carrying 10+ days into 2014/15.
DOM is arranging more absorption to allocate the extra weeks. This, of course, will become a permanent arrangement

Re: owed holidays
We have a collective agreement(The Way Forward) that allows 5 days carry over but that should be in exceptional circumstances and by mutual consent. It is not there to be abused because a manager cannot be arsed working out a leave system that works.derpderp wrote:I was told you can carry upto 5 days over, could be wrong though.
This usually occurs in offices that do not have the correct staffing ratio of reserves to duty holders. The number of leave reserves in an office should be worked out on the basis of actual annual leave required not on a flat allocation across the office. Reps should be careful of this during revisions.
Many members now purchase annual leave and that has to be reflected in your reserve numbers but of course managers would prefer to just lapse those hours out of the budget.
The only time anybody should be carrying over more than 5 days is as a result of long term sick absence.
