Ballot timetable

Post by wandle »

(extracted from LTB 839/13):

Ballot opens on the 15th January 2014
Ballot closes on the 29th January 2014

So, assuming there is a Yes vote, ballot closing Wednesday 29th January should mean backpay in wages Friday 31st January ?

Don't think HR would be able to sort it that quick, unless union rigs ballot a informs them the end of preceding week.

I think they WILL have the necessary software to implement it that quickly. The calculations won't need to be done individually! They'll have everything ready, to change everyone over to the new basic rate, overtime/SA rates etc etc. Just a case of formally getting notification of the ballot result, surely? If it's a "No" in the ballot, they just continue using current payscales.... :hmmmm

Still think HR are incapable of moving that quickly, and knowing RM, the software on the computer system was probably written by Charles Babbage.

As soon as 50% have voted yes they can give HR the go ahead which could be much earlier than the 29th

Will the backdated pay be paid on hours actually worked (OT) or just contracted hours?

Kind regards

All hours as the basic rate itself has changed affecting all hours worked.

Why s it taking so long to organise the ballot? It's taking 6 weeks to organise the ballot but you expect HR to turn it around in a day. It'll probably take weeks.

The reps have to be briefed.
The members have to be briefed.
Communications have to be sent out.
The agreement has to be sold.
And in the words of the great Mutton-chopped philosopher Noddy Holder.....It's christmas.
