AGENDA FOR GROWTH, STABILITY AND LONG TERM SUCCESS – PROPOSED AGREEMENT – LOCAL REPS BRIEFINGS


The purpose of this LTB is to advise Branches of our communications plan and provisional ballot timetable with regard to the above mentioned proposed agreement.


Following the National Briefing that will take place on Tuesday 17th December, we will then hold a series of CWU Local Reps Briefings between the 6th and 10th January.


The arrangements for these Briefings are as follows:-


Tuesday 7th January 2014 – Henley Suite, Park Inn York (11 a.m – 3 p.m.)
Attendees – CWU Local Reps from Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North East.


Wednesday 8th January 2014 – Alexandra Suite, Midland Hotel Manchester (11 a.m – 3 p.m.)
Attendees – CWU Local Reps from the Midlands, North West and North Wales.


Thursday 9th January 2014 – Ballroom Theatre, Bristol Hotel (11 a.m – 3 p.m.)
Attendees – CWU Local Reps from South Wales, South West and South Central.




Friday 10th January 2014 – Lecture Theatre Central Hall SW1 (11 a.m – 3 p.m.)
Attendees – CWU Local Reps from London, Anglia and South East.


If CWU Branches believe that the travel arrangements for their local representatives would be better facilitated by attending one of the other venues listed, then they should contact Lionel Sampson in the DGS (P) Department and we will see, subject to the venue capacity, if alternative arrangements can be accommodated.


The Postal Executive is determined to ensure that we have an informed debate with our representatives and members about the new agreement prior to the membership ballot commencing. Furthermore, the groundbreaking nature of this agreement, means that it is also essential that the process between now and the ballot is supported by effective and accurate membership communications and these are being prepared.


Given the logistics of the Christmas and New Year Period and the need to hold these Local Representatives Briefings, the provisional timetable for the individual membership ballot is as follows:


Ballot opens on the 15th January 2014
Ballot closes on the 29th January 2014


Please ensure that the content of this LTB is circulated to all CWU Representatives. Arrangements are being made with the employer to facilitate normal release arrangements for the local representatives’ briefings and this will be confirmed in due course.

I hope to Christ there's enough reps who can see the wood for the trees this time, never mind - "we need your support" - we need their support and we are most certainly not getting it with this deal.
