Return to work interview?

Post by derkhead »

Are return to work interviews still done anymore? Several people in our office over the last few months havent had theirs . Has there been a change in procedure or is our manager just forgetting to do them?

Its always been an informal part of the procedure I think, so even just a "Welcome back To, are you okay" is classed as a RTW. Perhaps anyone with better knowledge will post though.

They should be
From the New Attendance Agreement

Welcome back meeting • F ollowing any period of absence, an informal Welcome Back meeting will be held between the employee and their manager, ideally on the first day back • T he purpose of the meeting is to: – Acknowledge the employee’s return and show that his or her attendance is valued – Enable the employee to air any concerns and to see if help can be given to encourage regular attendance – Discuss the reason for the absence – Offer any support Royal Mail can provide – Ensure that the employee is fit for work – Ensure that the absence is properly certificated – Discuss if appropriate whether re-occurrence of absence is likely • T his discussion should be sympathetic and supportive • I f it is felt that there is an underlying health issue which has not been previously identified, the manager should consider a referral to the Occupational Health Service.

if i were you i wouldnt make a fuss about it, as when and if someone gets to stage 3 time on attendance procedure it give a great route for an appeal as all the steps have not been collectedly followed by the DOM.

It is the absence rtw is just as it says welcome back it has no bearing on your record.

Just back after 5 weeks off with a recurrence of a back injury sustained at work . Had rtw interview , no problem. Now going for review interview. Should I be given a stage warning or not . This is a recurring injury so think I should not be put on a stage. Any thoughts .?........

No one can really answer that on here I think. You need to sit with local rep before meeting and highlight all things that could possibly be a reason not to issue a prompt. That's the job you and your rep have at the meeting, to raise any issues/questions regarding your absence.
