Re: share question
I would say yes as a good leaver but that is not a definitive answer. Good luck to you both and hope you keep them. It will be interesting to find out if she can sell them using her capital gains allowance and not paying tax on them?rustictripod wrote:My wife has just taken vr because the mail centre she used work at has been shut down, she was allocated her free shares before her vr date, has she still got them?, can she cash them in now?. Re: share question
If she is a 'good leaver' which it sounds as if she is then I see no reason why she shouldn't be allowed to keep them. If she sells the shares straight away then no tax at all should be payable, however if she chooses to take the shares out of the SIP and hold onto them for a while, then she may become liable for Capital Gains Tax. Although that would only be payable if she exceeds the CGT limit for the tax year in which she sells them - currently £10,900, which would not be the case if the only capital gains she makes are from the free shares.cloherty1976 wrote:I would say yes as a good leaver but that is not a definitive answer.
