is there any reason why someone who is declared bankrupt can not work for royal mail ?
someone at my workplace is about to declare himself bankrupt but is worried he could lose his job on top of his money worries

I can say A lot of posties have gone bankrupt over the years and are still employed at work. Don't think they have any worries on that.

cant do a thing to you if your bankrupt or going to declare yourself bankrupt this is your personal life got nothing to do with your job or royal mail

If you are made bankrupt, the following restrictions apply for 12 months which mean you can't:
Borrow more than £500 without telling the lender you're bankrupt.
Act as a director of a company.
Create, manage or promote a company without the court's permission.
Manage a business with a different name without telling people you do business with that you're bankrupt.
Work as an insolvency specialist.
