NATIONAL DISPUTE – INDUSTRIAL ACTION NOTICE (ROYAL MAIL GROUP)

Further to LTB 718/13 Branches will wish to know that the CWU has today served notice for industrial action.

The industrial action notice covers all duties, Scheduled Attendance and overtime commencing at or after 04.30 a.m. on Monday 4th November 2013 and before 04.30 a.m. on Tuesday 5th November 2013.

A further update on the national talks will be provided to Branches on Wednesday 30th October.

Monday's are a bad day to strike as they are followed by the easy Tuesday and most of the mail will be delivered that day even if we decide to cut off ... best strike days are Thursdays and Fridays

CWU are playing it cool by striking on a Monday. They can gauge the strength of support for the strike and give RM a taste of the disruption to come.

Tactically a Monday is the best day to fire a warning shot at RM, CWU should save striking on heavy days for later, nearer Xmas.

They have already stated that further strike action will take place and it will be on varying days so don't see them picking Monday as that much of an issue. The fact they state that this is not a one-off gives me more confidence I have to say.

I think rolling strikes would kill these clowns , processing - wednesday , drivers - thursday , delivery - Friday .

Most of our long distance drivers all start at 04:00... That will mean about 10 of us in on Mon out of 500 Processing/Dist...

Dream on! Lots of smaller offices won't have picket lines and will work as normal. Many want to be in the union but not make any personal sacrifices. Nothing new there I'm afraid.

Does this mean if you are a tuesday to saturday starting at 04:05 am then the tuesday would be our strike day? as the LTB says covering all duties before 04:30 am. Will find out tomorrow no doubt. wonderful just getting back from holidays aswell .
