Are the CWU making an announcement today?

I'm sure that I read the CWU were going to announce the timings for the strike on Nov 4, today.

They are informing RM today that 4th is THE day but I'm not sure if they have to tell them what time but I think it's likely.

With regards to the timings, it's more for our benefit s opposed to RM's. We operate CSS machines overnight so it would be helpful to know what night we'll be out.

would this mean that a 24 hr stoppage could not begin before 17:00 hrs on the 4th nov? or the time when it is issued.

No the union has to only give 7 days notice it is not time specific.

Make sense to go at 1400 on a Monday if they do .
Makes it fair for everyone .A lot of tuesday to saturdays in our office.

If management hasn't presented their new offer yet, it'll probably come at the most deliberately awkward time.(Say, at 4 pm on Friday)

They'll want it earlier than that to enable would be marchers to get to the venue. I suspect it'll be early doors but who knows?

Strong rumours that early processing staff,who are predominantly tues-sat attendances will not be included in this action,will be interesting to hear the rationale behind this.....if true,of course.

Jane what ever the day of the strike some members will be on a rest day. If we had a strike on a Saturday then lots f members in Mail centres would be on rest day.

The PEC have called this day and it will mean that some Mail centre staff who are Tuesday to Saturday will be on rest day.

The problem with that Jane is the rally is Monday at 12 and if we then extended to the end of the early shift we would have VOC drivers back in work taking work to Mail centres , plus we have delivery offices within Mail centres. This likely to be the first of a number of strikes and they won't all be on Monday.
