Firstly my apologies at what seems to be a stupid question but there is something I don't understand....

I get that we need to protect our T&Cs etc and fight hard for them but should we only get a 3 year protection wont the union be fighting to extend it when the 3 years are up? Surely the union wont let our pay drop etc?

looking at other areas in the private sector, and other unions, priorities may change, recently we have seen large organisations want to reduce head count and with that unions have fought to retain head count with reductions in wages for everyone, so yes i would imagine they would be trying to stop our pay dropping in the future but they may have to sacrifice that to save something else which appears more important

It is unlikely the CWU will exist in its present form in 3 years time.
The loss of possibly 20 000 more members will mean it will not be able to remain a financially viable institution and will be looking to merge with another union.
It really is do or die time.

The Royal Mail have offered 3 years, the Union is pushing for a minimum of 10, the most important thing is to get a big yes vote.

It is unlikely the CWU will exist in its present form in 3 years time.
The loss of possibly 20 000 more members will mean it will not be able to remain a financially viable institution and will be looking to merge with another union.
It really is do or die time.

Hopefully the union have not got caught flat footed and have done a deal which they will share with us Monday?!

The union are being greedy trying to get 10 years protection. What a stupid position. 3 yrs is legally enforceable plus the business could well be storming ahead with new products and services. Like others have said at the end of the 3 year period the union can try and renegotiate.

Moyas never going to give CWU 10 years.

Why start a ballot on Friday if you have a deal in place ready for sharing on Monday. Not sure if you are being naive, pushing your own agenda (I am so nothing wrong with that) or if you are sowing confusion and misinformation for some as yet unclear reason. I'll withhold my judgement for now, but in any case I think your reputation on here needs some careful handling.

I do agree with you I think the union are In cloud cuckoo wanting 10 years not saying I would like it to be 10 years

Ballots take a lot of time and expense to put together and they look good for the membership. I am just saying it as I see it but if you would rather me not say anything I do understand. I don't want to offend and I have just enjoyed putting my points across. Also I have finally got the quote working. Thanks POSTMAN..
