I was in the same situation as you a few years back & the manager took it upon himself to find someone who was only willing to work mon/ tues/ wed which i wasn't happy about as the system works as you stated.
I told him i wasn't happy about this & was not willing to work thurs/ fri/ sat every week to which he replied ' if you dont like it then :wave ' so i contacted the area rep & told him the situation.
The rep did some digging around & found out that the agreement for jobshare after one partner leaves is that the responsibilty to find a replacement is down to the remaining partner left (NOT THE MANAGER) to find someone in your own office that is willing to work on a rota system - mon/ tues/ wed one week & thurs/ fri/ sat the following week within a reasonable agreed time. The agreement also states that the remaining partner would cover all the hours they were doing before they went onto jobshare until a new partner is found but if a replacement cannot be found within this agreed time then the remaining partner must revert back to w/e hours they were doing before they went onto jobshare which in your case would be back to full time
The manager at the time was a total knob jockey & didnt like having to back down after the rep gave him a printout of this agreement so he tried to be clever & only gave me one week to find a replacement which i didnt argue about because i already had someone who was willing to come onboard that same day :nana
Get onto your rep asap & quote the above to him so he can get you a copy of the agreement for the dimwhit to read :cuppa

Think there may be a real possibility that the manager has someone in mind, maybe one of their little pets, who only wants to do certain days...
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.
