Not getting paid overtime

I'm new to the job started about 2 months ago. Last week me and my van driver worked over every day and have not been paid anything for it. The manager said that we didn't because it was my fault because I wasn't fast enough at prepping the walk and no one gets payed in July because its quiet this time of year and shouldn't be working over

Also if I start at 7:18 should part of my walk be prepped or should I have to do it all ?

5 hour pt should have all of their duty prepped except packets, redirections and tying up.

6 hour pt should have had their mail sort thrown in but still have to prep their mail from the IPS.

Stick in a grievance

Inform Dom by writing he has 7 days to pay you what he owes you

This may be correct for your office but unless you know what the delivery span is in each office, and the daily traffic it may not be correct.
It certainly isn't a hard and fast rule for every office in the country.

I agree clash :) we are still awaiting revision ( been promised it for 3+ years, had two lots of planner's in who quit before they even got going )

but that's where RM have f***ed up in my eyes, we should have national agreements across the board, not local agreements where no one knows for sure where they stand.

what's right in one office could be totally different to the DO in the next town over.

The manager who fed you this load of crap needs to put his money where his fat mouth is. Get him to write down what he said and sign it. Pound to a piece of s**t he won't. You are entitled to pay for every single minute you work beyond your contracted hours........and he knows this.It has f**k all to do with national or local agreements, or any other bollocking agreement that managers or the union spout at us......it is your minimum entitlement that you get paid for the work you do. You are not trying to "get one over" or defraud anyone.....ffs Royal Mail ,,pay your f***ing workforce, you penny pinching set of arseholes...........makes my f***ing s**t itch, it really does.....

You should be paid for every minute you work over and your manager is a cock! It doesn't matter how fast you are at prep/delivery and this week has not been light on mail (at least going by how much we have had in my office). Hopefully it should drop off now most schools have shut for the summer but that is still irrelevent!

If I were you I'd just cut off in future and then he can have the aggro of trying to get someone to cover it. It amazes me how some of these twonks seem to think they are paying you out of thier own pocket!

Join the union and see your rep. Most at ground level are pretty decent and will help in these situations where managers are just trying it on!

I agree with this guy, ask him to write it down on the basis you want to take it further, he will crap himself cos he's fed you a load of BS to keep the overtime down so he gets a bigger bonus

I'd love to see that written down ; in some sort of official doc.... because I am 6hr but do everthing except IPS.

So prep , redirs etc etc. And they wonder why I cut off on all but the quietest days and have only Summer Lapsed once
