If an office agrees to use LWT after using pegasus to plan the routes using park & loop. Some areas are exempt from using LWT, i.e. steep terrain, flats etc. With daily firefighting with line managers about how many loops the postmen are cutting, they have gone to do more outdoor work for less grief using weight on shoulder carrying bags between 8-16kg . They feel harassed on a daily basis, CWU wants postmen to use correct delivery methods, pointing out RM tortoise & hare game we played a while back. Is it true after new delivery methods introduced you cant go back to carrying 16kg bags ?

Yes use of the assigned equipment is mandatory according to BT2010 - Delivery Methods Page 22 says

Once assigned the use of equipment specified for the route will be mandatory.

It's all a load of old bollocks. Majority of park and loopers use a 16kg bag over the shoulder as its quicker. We all know it is. Manager turns a blind eye as not much overtime goes in so it keeps the dsm off his back. Georoute is not fit for purpose. It's outdated and used by total pr**s who ain't got a clue. Screwed from day one.

On some loops on some days there's just no point in using the LWT but normally it's needed (I use one side for mail and the other for packets).

Celery, why do they need or want to be quicker? You deliver what you can within the confines of your contracted hours, using the delivery methods stipulated (even if you think those methods are sh.te). If using a trolley only allows time to do 80% of the walk, that,s what you do. Why hurry, using non stipulated delivery methods in order to deliver 100% ? If you injure yourself using incorrect equipment, you all know what Royal Mail will do. F.ck the DOM and what he says and requires. Work to what you have been given and do it at the pace that suits you.

Staff are sick of the constant bullying if they say the words "I can't complete". They follow you everywhere and wave bits of paper in front of you with figures from georoute saying you can complete. The irony is they will pay overtime to anyone who stays out and goes over but don't seem to challenge them as to why they are late back.

Think it would be more likely that us posties would tackle a DOM and tie them into it.
And then no deliveries would ever get done. We'd stay in all day pelting the bastard with anything and everything.
