The process is "at the discretion of the OPG" so it won't involve anything illegal. If all employees P739 everything it'll start to put pressure on manager's dealing with complaints from customer's.

I realise my colleagues on regular rounds might be reluctant to do this,but we've got to start increasing the pressure on RM and quickly.

Nice idea Nikellie but getting the 4 guys dotted around the country who actually do this deliver to a neighbour thing together for a strategy meeting might be a problem.

Well in our office a lot of my colleagues use the scheme, especially rural guys. Personally I P739 everything even when covering a rural duty because I know a 20 mile round trip to pick up a 2.99 DVD really annoys customers. Those customer's go on to complain and local manager's will start getting the flak.

I take your point fishtank but we've got to start somewhere and even a small action is better than doing nothing.

must admit i have never yet actively looked for a neighbour to take a parcel, if one approaches me and offers to take it then i will give it to them but i have not and will not look for one, no time!

May i suggest you hold this meeting in your office Nikellie ? You seem to be the hub of 'delivering to neighbours'

With all due respect pinky1 not all offices have problems with time and in some cases revisions are working. I do appreciate the situation is different in your part of the world and I feel for OPG's in offices under pressure.

My suggestion is something we all could do instead of twiddling our thumbs waiting for Billy. Would you feel better if you knew your colleagues were making every effort to cause RM management problems in any way possible. Plus some potential bad publicity if the "deliver to a neighbour" scheme faills after RM spent so much time as setting themselves up as a "parcel" company. We've got to do something, I don't want to sit and wait for a strike ballot, the fight needs to start now.

Chill Nikelle we're mostly just having a laugh.

The main problem you would run into is the same as the boycott the competitors mail thing.
Any time you organise anything that is in breach of contract like refusing to do the deliver to neighbour thing you run into legal issues.

If a member said to management they were refusing to do it,they could be suspended,if a whole office did it,it would be considered unofficial industrial action and you would probably end up at the gate,and if the union supported it nationally,they could be taken to court for encouraging industrial action without a legal ballot.

Can't you see we're doing this already ? The decision is made by the postperson wether to deliver to a neighbour or not, and we choose not to

They've done counts at our office of the number of packets people bring back. Those deemed to be bringing too many back have been given a bollocking and counselling for not using the delivery to a neighbour service.

I've no doubt customer complaints will lead to conduct coding before too long.

Delivering to a neighbour should be actively encouraged. Means you take less out or bring more back, whichever way the Screws want it. Gives them more to do.

at the end of the day its a matter of choice, i prefer not to do it unless theres a note and take a photo if u have a camera phone that way u have proof if theres a problem.

When a complaint was raised by one customer (a witch) that I wasn't delivering to her neighbours, my lino told me that for every packet (sorry parcel) I had I had to attempta delivery to neighbour it was not my choice and that it was in the royal mail guidelines. He is a c*ck.
