I am on a 25hr contract. We did our revision in Sept 2012 and were given our new start times. Mine is 9:40-14:40 Mon-Fri and 8.30-13:30 on a Saturday. When I cover a FT duty or do an early start and start at 7am thru the week I am putting 2h40 a day OT (7am-9:40) down which is the way I thought it would work.
Now, my bosses are telling me I should put any OT on the back end because they tell me that my 5 contracted hours start from when they ask me to start. I don't think is right so I'm after some clarification. I've asked my union rep but she doesnt know.
Another issue I seem to be having is when I am paired with a FTer, if we somehow finish the round early (say 30mins), I only get paid for what I work but they aren't made to do any extra and very rarely make the time up.

Re: PTer overtime question
Yep your overtime should be at the end. Unless you doing overtime at the start that they are willing to pay.

Re: PTer overtime question
If you come in early at the request of management your o/t should be booked at the start. If they don't want to pay it that way.... don't do it. That way you should be paid up until your finish time. What your partner does or doesn't get paid for is quite frankly none of your business!zipman23 wrote: Another issue I seem to be having is when I am paired with a FTer, if we somehow finish the round early (say 30mins), I only get paid for what I work but they aren't made to do any extra and very rarely make the time up.

Re: PTer overtime question
Thanks and you are right, it isnt my business but that wasnt exactly the point I was trying to make. If I am covering a FT duty with another FTer but we both finish before our time, why should I be penalised for it if they are getting paid until a certain time but not working it? One rule for one etc.Surely if I am covering a FT duty I should get paid until the same time as them? What your partner does or doesn't get paid for is quite frankly none of your business!

Re: PTer overtime question
if your doing over time you should only get paid for the hours you work, doesnt matter whether you claim it at the start or end, if you are paid a 5 hour day and work 7 you claim 2 hours over time unless you have an agreement with your manager, ie im not coming in early unless i get paid for a full 8 hour shift, as long as your DOM agrees to that then theres no problem, you cant claim the 2hr40 before the start of your shift as over time and then finish early on your normal working hours unless your DOM agrees to that as well
your not being penalized for finish early compared to a FTer , your just not gaining anything out of it

Re: PTer overtime question
And that is why they want you to claim the overtime at the end of your duty.
2 hours 40 minutes for 2 hours 10.
2 hours 40 minutes for 2 hours 10.
