Grievance appeal

I wonder if someone could help. I have a member who has registered a grievance against his line manager, the second line manager has heard the case and my member is not happy with the response and wishes to appeal, daft question but what happens next? and what role will i play in it?

If it was stage 1 and he is not happy with the outcome onward and upward stage 2 then 3 if still not happy
