Couple in there for DV. :whistle

32 CATEGORY A: This Conference notes that in the Business Transformation
2010 Agreement it is stated “To provide ongoing confidence…That the operational
transformation programme and associated workplan support the nationally planned
staffing mix of around 75 percent full time/25 percent part time.”
This Conference agrees that the figure of 75% full time workers should be seen as a
minimum and not a target.
This Conference therefore instructs the Postal Executive to publish the national ratio
figure on a quarterly basis in an effort to restore “ongoing confidence”.
South Central Post

29 CATEGORY A: This Conference has severe concerns about the ratio of Full
Time to Part Time employees in Delivery Offices and Mail Centres nationally.
The Postal Executive is instructed to conduct a full enumeration of Full Time and
Part Time staff and report its findings to Branches via LTB within 6 months of the
end of Conference with recommendations for response if national agreements are
not being adhered to.

Subs only tell you membership numbers and ratios.
Part-timers are less likely to join a union and long term staff are more likely full-time and members so the ratio is skewed.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

How difficult is it to collate a few figures from DOs/MCs.Office reps should really know this basic info its called ammunition, not surprising this company gets away with what it does.BBC journalists and technicians dont mess about according to Sky News 24 hour strike for what you may ask.Im sure it said Workload,Bullying and Harassment from management sound familiar.Maybe CWU Should be taking lessons from these people.Let the public know whats going on within RM they need :cuppa to know. :

Thanks for that fish, it is long overdue that this is discussed at a higher level because without any check and balance there is no telling what the ratio is. The union should have woken up to the fact long ago. How difficult would it be for each branch to contact every office under their auspices - a simple phone call and ask for the current ft/pt - they will wait until after the next round of discussions with RM without any resolution.

This is where the union at national and divisional level lets it self down in certain areas
Richard Moor on behalf of Royal Mail present in a format which includes every cost centre and delivery office where they are in terms of lump sums and the ratio of full time to part time ratio for every office.

Bob Gibson then sends this information to all Divisional reps, some send this out to area reps, in London we break this down to just the London Offices and currently the levels in London are 89/11 %.

The problem with this information is it does not tell you what hours part timers are working in offices cause it ranges from 8 hours up too 38 hours.

It would be expected that London has a higher PT/FT ratio and that is probably necessary, though that may change with the advent of revisions. Other areas have been going through change and revision much longer and have had the FT/PT eroded over a longer period of time. It may be that the ratio is greater than 75/25 though I suspect that isn't the case.

My point has always been that the CWU who touted that ratio as part of the agreement had no method to check the ratio and if they have to rely on RM for what is, by your admission, tacit at best, shows a distinct lack of care for the members in my opinion. It does show however that now the revisions are in full swing other areas are also concerned that there is a need to look into it before we become a part time workforce by default.
