Floaters
A friend of mine signed for a floater duty and has set tuesday wednesday sunday off with a 1 in 4 saturday. However manager turned around and said need you to work 5 day week shorter days. I thought managers could only do this with reserves and not floaters who should have their set days off.

Re: Floaters
If your friend has signed, officially/properly, for a duty that is now theirs permanantly, then I believe the days off are set in stone and they can ask them if they are willing to change duties on a weekly basis in reaction to a resourcing issue, but I don't think they can just tell them or force them to change days off. I think the boss is trying to save money or one of his/her pets from working for a living. Your day off is just that. What you do during your hours of attendance can be switched at the drop of a hat, but attendance times, i.e. days worked, start and finish times can't be. Save for the flexibility agreement, but that's once a week for 30 minutes max. See your Rep ASAP.
A couple of Christmases ago, our DOM tried to change all our days off because he was struggling to staff a particular day, we just told him no. He went away fuming, but sadly didn't explode.

Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.
