I've had a meeting over my sickness and been issued a stage one warning.
The date that this is going to be issued from is 4 weeks after I returned back to work. I haven't gone sick since I retured to work and feel that the warning should be nearer when I returned to work rather than a month later.
I spoke to HR and there are no guidelines.
What happens in other offices ?

When I got a stage it was from the date of the meeting where we 'discussed' (got whinged at) my sick record. This meeting was held at the same time as my return to work from the most recent period of S/L. It certainly shouldn't happen weeks after your last period of S/L. I would guess they're trying to extend as far as possible the term of the stage.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

Have you asked for it to be backdated? If you fell sick and triggered within four weeks of the NEXT stage it would be a good mitigating factor.
You could even try a grevience if you genuinely feel agreaved about it. After all, that's what the policy is for. It would also back up any defence for any possible further stages if they fell within those four weeks.
In short, they SHOULD backdate it, any delay issuing stages should not be at your detriment as its not a true reflection of your sick record.

Their guidelines state that the Stage begins when they issue it.
Obviously they are not supposed to wait months before issuing it.
This should have been cleared up with a new attendance procedure.

Thanks for the points raised. I'm trying to get it backdated nearer to when I returned to work.
My interview didn't take place until 6 weeks after I returned back, this was due to both sides me for insiting on having a rep plus the indoor work being heavier than planned so it was cancelled twice.
This seems to be a grey area. If I did go sick between returning to work and the interview then I'm sure it would of been backdated. Very few people get away with a stage one even though the interview is meant to be unbiased, computer says you triggered it tough luck.
