Told must do a days work before any overtime after sick days

We've been told in our office that if we are off sick for any length of time we cannot do any overtime/ SA's until we've returned and worked a normal day!

Is this the norm?

Example being, if a postie was sick for a couple of days (mon,tues) but was fit to return to work on his day off (sceduled in on Wednesday) he/she won't be allowed, even if it was just for their SA!

Common practise? Or just one of those things RM use when they see fit?

Any help/advice appreciated.

in 26 yers always told , if off sickmust return on duty or SA DEFINITELY NOT on overtime, always has been that way.

So its ok to return on SA? Only we've been told we've got to return on duty before even doing SA!

S/A's are contractual so it would be different to returning on normal o/t i would think (could be wrong)

You must be allowed to do an s/a after a normal shift surely!

Sorry, didn't clarify, we have some early morning SA's. Yeah, I'm sure SA's are allowed after normal shift. Then again, this is RM management we're dealing with

In our office we have been told for as long as I can remember that you cannot return to work on overtime, must be to do your duty.

However, many people have returned to work starting on O/T, whether it's the bosses pets ( for obvious reasons), or others who have been allowed to, presumably to save the boss having to actually put some effort in and find another staff member to cover the O/T. It's different rules for different people.

same at ours,not supposed to return from sick straight to ot but if the dom is struggling to get it covered he turns a blind eye.

I believe 'turning a blind eye' is actually a part of the management training!
