strike day question

i have a question, i've only been in RM for a little while. On the strike days (fri, sat, mon, tues) are you allowed to stay at home without getting sacked? Or do you have to join the union?

AFAIK its an official strike and even if your not in the union you can still take part in official strikes. My advice though would be to join the Union you get a lot more information that way and it is less than £3 a week. Also even if you are in the union you don't have to be part of a picket if this makes you uncomfortable.

You don't have to join the union but as Teebs says you will get a lot more information if you do - in the meantime - don't stay at home - join your friendly neighbourhood picket line for an hour - it's the only chance some of us get to talk to each other nowadays - it's fun without being fattening - and your mates will appreciate it.

Either way union member or not DONT GO IN ON A STRIKE DAY!
To become a union member get a form from your rep or contact your branch secretary.Once form is filled out you have the protection of the postal industrys only union that matters. Regardless of what you find on this or other sites.

ok thanks for all the answers. Its just that someone told me i will get sacked if i go on strike and im not in the union and on another day someone told me you dont have to be at the workplace on the strike days.

If you do want to join the union see the rep tomorrow/Thursday and fill a form out straight away AFAIK you are a member as sson as you fill in the application.

You are 100% correct, once you have signed cwu forms you are covered by all the delightful things the cwu can do for you.

usually on the picket line but about 15 of us are spending this saturday paint balling.shame we cant take the strike breakers with us
