Hi
Posted this here before but i'm just looking for some clarification regarding where i stand.
'I was on a 6 month contract on 39 hours all going fine then get called in the Dom's office and told my hours getting reduced to 30 hours as mail has dropped. Thought nothing i could do about it as was still relatively new there still. So my 6 month fixed term contract comes to an and i get a 39 hour permanent contract through the post. I then sign this, send it back. I then go in and tell the Dom and he is surprised as to what i am telling him and says i must be wrong. I show him the contract and he says he will change this for me. 1 month later i'm still on 30 hours. Now if i have a permanent contract stating 39 hours i should be working 39 hours right?? It is now 5 weeks from when i received this contract so what am i supposed to do?'
Talking to the Dom about this is like trying to get blood out of a stone as he doesn't seem to know what end of the pencil to use. I phone up HR they say that my line manager has to phone up and change it with them which he isn't doing.
Term 20 on the permanent contract is 'Royal Mail reserves the right to change these terms and conditions on giving you reasonable notice, and in the case of matters fundamental and material, following the appropriate consultation with you and/or the recognized trade union that represents your grade.'
So what i really want to know is, I am now on a 39 hour permanent contract on paper, but in reality im on a 30 hour deal. The contract states 39 so i should be working 39 right?
Any advice would be grate.
Thanks

Re: Temp/Perm Contract
My advice would be to join the union and if you are then get your rep involved to speak to the manager to clarify the situation. In fairness HR may have made the mistake - you would only be employed for 39 hours if there was sufficient work. How many hours are you actually working?NoKnock wrote:Hi

Re: Temp/Perm Contract
Hi
Thanks for the reply. I'm currently working 39 hours as when I came in after he reduced my hours my job had not been touched and I could see it annoying the people I was working with. So in theory there getting free labour out of me which is worst thing.

Re: Temp/Perm Contract
So are you being paid for 39 - if so and I'm presuming you book the overtime - it's definitely time to get the rep involved and if you don't have one then contact the area rep, failing that contact your branch office for advice.NoKnock wrote:Hi

Re: Temp/Perm Contract
What does it say on your payslip "basic pay" then your wages or does it have 30 in-between(i.e. 30hrs) ?
I would get the rep involved as said already
