Mountains out of Mole - hills

I am a bag carrier who starts her working day at a pouch box rather than the sorting office. All my mail is dropped off and I never go into the office. Most comunication is via text message. Then one day I have a AOD, just a swollen knee which turned out be nothing and no time off needed. All I needed to do is put it in an accident book - simple you would think? WRONG! I text the office telling them I had a fall and to phone me if necessary. They did not call. A manager turned up the next day at my pouch box with my mail but was only making sure I had turned up for work, not interested in how I was. Told me he couldn't put it on the 'system' coz I hadn't gone back to the office (I never go to the office, my delivery and home address are some distance away). So today I managed to find time to travel to the office after my delivery, but he had reported me to the DSM and wasn't prepared to enter it on the system because I had not come in to the office straight after the fall. Eventually after I was forced to contact my area rep he agreed to enter it on the system - the whole process taking an hour of my own time, involvement of CWU, alot of arguing and all just to report a minor accident of no real importance.
Why does management have to constantly make mountains out of mole-hills? rant over!

hmm not sure - I suppose he would if I asked but where else can it go? + I don't want to be the one making a mountain out of a molehill lol ooh and can I really claim overtime for it?

Actually in my opinion you are making a mountain out of a mountain, its the manager not allowing you to complete the ERICA whose is trying to make a mole hill out of a mountain.

1. The accident book or equivalent must be readily accessible.

2. It is a matter for the employee, not the employer or any one acting on behalf of the employer, whether an entry is made in the accident book or equivalent.

3. There is no restriction on the nature and type of accident and injury that can be entered into an accident book or equivalent. With reference to paragraph 2 we would specifically assert that it is for the employee to determine whether or not they have sustained a personal injury and whether they have been involved in accident.

4. There is no restriction on the time within which an accident has to have occurred in order for an employee to make a record in the accident book or equivalent. Regulation 25(3)(b) implicitly recognises that an entry may be made in an accident at some point after the accident occurred.

Thank you True Blue I have now read Fishtanks post and the topic. It's unbelievable isnt it?

Although I had to fight to get the Erica filled in, it is now done, so I suppose that is the end of the matter for me, however disgusted I am.

The one thing they did seem interested in was who was to blame for my trip because they had been to look, and found out that the branch I had tripped over had been there for a few days so why had I not tripped on it before!! Who cares - I tripped at work I'm okay (thanks for asking - NOT) and I just want to put it in the book! As long as Royal Mail is covered who cares about the person?

I've never been in favour of out workers, we had several over the years but have since been replaced with part timers, a more versatile use of personnel in my opinion.
