Re: sent home
CWU...........TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS
Dear Colleague
SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS – PAY & MODERNISATION AGREEMENT
CWU HQ are receiving numerous reports and enquiries that as a result of the severe weather conditions, Royal Mail Managers are attempting to insist that in cases where our members are being sent home early from work due to unsafe conditions for delivery, collections, road services etc, the Pay & Modernisation Agreement and in particular the flexibility clause within that agreement, is applicable.
There is no provision within the Pay & Modernisation Agreement for the clawback of any time as a result of what is tantamount to an 'act of God' i.e. the severe weather conditions that the UK is currently experiencing.
We have had further reports that some Managers are attempting to have our members take annual leave, make good the time, or even in some cases Special Leave 'C' (unpaid) where they could not attend work through no fault of their own. Once again, our representatives should be clear that this has not been agreed with the Postal Department at CWU HQ.
Any enquiries should be addressed to the DGS (P) Department quoting reference number 60000.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)

You was sent home , you went to the nearest RM depot , you have done what you have to. There is no clawback of hours RM's loss.

Re: sent home
So your rep has agreed that for the office to go home they will owe said office hrs!?
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You have to watch these sneaky f****r managers and seriously dozy reps.POSTMAN wrote:So your rep has agreed that for the office to go home they will owe said office hrs!?
We're closing the office,go home isn't the same as you can all go home if you want to...who wants to?
There is no clawback if they send you home,if they offer you the choice be prepared to pay it back.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: sent home
we were offered the opportunity to go home and not sit arpound waiting til our duties finished...we all agreed REASONABLY...to go home and catch up over the week..
flexibility works both ways here in our office...we get away early a lot!! and on those days where we need to go over we do it as its REASONABLE....good manager, cwu relations are key to this....
