World Class Mail in Delivery

has anyone experienced this yet in Delivery units as it's imminent in my part of London. From what I've heard so far, it's all about having full engagement between management, CWU and OPG's to achieve a cleaner,safer more productive working environment. They want to achieve zero accidents, , zero miss-sorts, zero complaints, zero miss-deliveries and so on. Excuse me for being a bit cynical but how do they expect this to work when there's no trust or belief in the managers we've got. There doesn't seem to be anything in it for staff but I bet management will be getting bonuses for hitting targets etc. Continuous improvement means what it says, it never ends. This will again be another new strategy which will not work because of the clowns managing the units at the sharp end.

Consultants are always paid to cut costs by 30% but they always manage to get their fees paid upfront and make sure they are not paid by results. In the short term, productivity is improved but nobody can sustain working without any micro-breaks for long.

All WCM seems to do (at least in MCs) is cause a massive increase in the amount of double handling everything

Surely the term 'World Class' is just a tag line. We don't really operate in a global context. My issue with the whole idea is that we are expected to produce 'World Class' performance with third world equipment!! PDA's constantly fail to work, vans desperately need replacing and the shoes we are expected to wear to walk 10+ miles daily are cheap s**t!!

Recognise the old saying. " a change is as good as a rest"? If during indoor work time we were swapping between IPS; packet sorting; clearing down our own IPS boxes and prepping our own frames, I would expect overall efficiency to improve over this WCM carp of doing one task for 45-90 minutes each morning and then prepping our frames. So much so that it would offset not having dedicated IPS porters. Doing the same task for a long period will induce physical and mental fatigue, not to mention bordom.

The only real way to improve productivity is to create an environment where workers are treated fairly and decently because this generates goodwill on all sides.

The responsibility for poor industrial relations in Royal Mail Holdings plc lies squarely with the management who are corrupt. In a lot of units, friends and relatives have been promoted to management despite being unsuitable.

biggest load of crap ever world class mail,it used to be when everybody in the towns had their mail by 9.30 not the crazy times we deliver now world classmy ar-e.
