Best strategy in dealing with poor staff/mngr relations
A unit in my area has extremely poor staff/managerial relations. There is the DOM who sits comfortably behind his desk tapping away at his computer/on conference calls etc all morning and he has another manager who run's the floor. This manager is detested by 90% of the staff. He latches onto the other 10%, the vulnerable ones, the ones he can use, the ones who are temporary, who are scared they might lose their job. He is a bully and takes things extremely personally when or if someone says no or answers back. 3 or 4 grievances have gone in about him which he has always got away with or staff haven't seen them through. Numerous calls to the B & H line have proved fruitless to. The rep in the unit has now given up the role now because he doesn't want the hassle anymore. This manager will see that as a victory and weakness and carry on regardless. We all know there are plenty of these types of managers out there, bullying and lying on a daily basis but what's the best strategy in dealing with them if grievances etc don't work.

A strike will work, it will bring the whole thing into the public domain and the DOM superiors would be looking closely at what's happening as will the media.

Usually bullying by management means they can get away with most things because most posties do not know their rights or proceedures that RM have to adhere to ( well should do) If you know these rules and regulations , then the managers cant do sweet fa . So scour this forum and ask as many questions on here that you need to and use there own rules against them. GOOD LUCK.
