Re: excess duty
if they were over their time for todays shift only then they would book whatever is excess for today, banking of hours is not allowed either way in ours or managerssilly suffolk wrote:got several opg's to book excess duty today because they went over 23.24 hours for the week. they work long mondays. manager totally disagreed with this. please tell me i am in the right.

Re: excess duty
but if they work a long monday, then shorter thurs and friday, but it still takes them over 23.24 [3times 7.48] they must surely get paid excess. no one should work for nothing.zx135 wrote:if they were over their time for todays shift only then they would book whatever is excess for today, banking of hours is not allowed either way in ours or managerssilly suffolk wrote:got several opg's to book excess duty today because they went over 23.24 hours for the week. they work long mondays. manager totally disagreed with this. please tell me i am in the right.

its only todays time that matters if over their time today then they are entitled for OT for today, there is no banking of hours allowed usually its the DOM trying to pull a fast one for people finishing early
surely then if they must have went over their contracted hours earlier in the week? if they have gone over the 23.24 then they must have been over on a day earlier in the week thats the day they should be claiming for not today if they didnt go over today

Re: excess duty
Zx is absolutely right. Each day stands on it,s own merit. If you go over your time on 1st day of your weeks shift you book the overtime for that day. If on subsequent days you finish early (Choke choke) then that is not your fault, it is for Royal Mail to fill your days by means of resource meetings with the unit rep, and the manager cannot claw this time back or offset it against future overtime.
You do not add the hours up you do over a week. That is utilising a banking of hours system for which there is no agreement between Royal Mail and CWU

Re: excess duty
i,ll try to explain through sat beer. im refering to a distribution unit. on mondays some staff work up to 13 hours as of their dutys. the rest of the week their days our shorter. if they work 13 hours monday, then say 6 1/2 hours thurs/ friday ,for last week they will have worked 26 hours. if you average out the working day for the week its 7.48, which =23hours 24mins. so if theyve worked 26 hours theyve done to much. if there is an agreement referring to swings and roundabouts and the like could someone tell me what it is please?Lincox wrote:Zx is absolutely right. Pay and Modernisation p6.
Variation of hours – Where necessary, for example when traffic
volumes are unexpectedly high or resourcing issues arise, individuals
may be asked and may themselves request to vary their duty times by
up to 30 minutes on a swings and roundabouts basis. Again, individual
circumstances will be taken into account and total weekly contractual
hours would not change.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: excess duty
One thing for sure, their duty hours for a Monday aint 13. If they have done 13, I would say at least 3/4 hours is overtime.

Re: excess duty
some not all work 13 hours on a monday ,then if you work 6 1/2 for the next 4 days it gives you 39. in the revision i had a little input in recently the staff were given this option or duties that included a sat attendance. they preferred the long mondayLincox wrote:One thing for sure, their duty hours for a Monday aint 13. Re: excess duty
the minimum number of duties that do this are mgv grade so do 40 hours. they do 0545 to 1845 mon then 1200 to 1845 tues to fri. the opg's on these type of duties don't do quite as long on a monday, but long enough to book excess if a bank holiday falls midweek.zx135 wrote:What are the scheduled hours for these duties as laid down in the 318?silly suffolk wrote:some not all work 13 hours on a monday ,then if you work 6 1/2 for the next 4 days it gives you 39. in the revision i had a little input in recently the staff were given this option or duties that included a sat attendance. they preferred the long mondayLincox wrote:One thing for sure, their duty hours for a Monday aint 13. Re: excess duty
youve lost me. i know im an old dinasaur but in the past when there was a bank holiday we were told what the working hours for that week were and then we took that figure away from the hours we actually worked on duty. this gave you your excess duty which you booked on o/t. as the pay and mod agreement says your weekly contractual hours will not be affected i haven't seen anything in print that change's this.zx135 wrote:so in that case if the duty finishes at 1845 then they start claiming ot same for the other days also, as soon as it hits 1845 they claim their otsilly suffolk wrote:the minimum number of duties that do this are mgv grade so do 40 hours. they do 0545 to 1845 mon then 1200 to 1845 tues to fri. the opg's on these type of duties don't do quite as long on a monday, but long enough to book excess if a bank holiday falls midweek.zx135 wrote:What are the scheduled hours for these duties as laid down in the 318?silly suffolk wrote:some not all work 13 hours on a monday ,then if you work 6 1/2 for the next 4 days it gives you 39. in the revision i had a little input in recently the staff were given this option or duties that included a sat attendance. they preferred the long mondayLincox wrote:One thing for sure, their duty hours for a Monday aint 13.
