They never asked me how much I got for IHR ( tax free ) , still qualified for JSA for six months then nowt.

You pay in for years to get back £66.00 per week for 26 weeks then zippo because your wife works. :dcfo

If your over 55 I would recommend taking your pension as its loosing more money than you pay in, but seek separate advice before doing so.

Best move I made.

Good luck

Go on employment support allowance, as ihr indicates you are still sick, you will get another medical with atos, then you will lose then you appeal and get back on employment s allowance, its just paid into bank account.

No I still haven't received payment! Just wondering how it will effect any benefits,ie jsa, council tax and rent , I was on ESA but failed ATOS assessment even though they told me through Royal Mail I'll get IHR because I'm not fit for work , anyway when I receive the money I'm wondering am I expected to live off that money or is it a protected form of savings as its a compensation payment for ill health

When I took IHR Lump Sum , I went to the Job Centre the next day and registered for work , this is important because when you are signing on as looking for work you are credited with National Insurance
contributions which is important as it counts towards your state pension.
Because you have been working recently you are entitled to Contributions -based JSA while you are looking for work this is based not on your savings or lump sum etc but rather your weekly National Insurance payments paid when you were employed by Royal Mail.
You are entitled to this payment , about £140 per fortnight for six months after which you can claim income -based JSA which takes into account savings , partners income etc.
If you want to claim Housing Benefit /Council Tax Benefit you must disclose your IHR.
If you are claiming Tax Credits I believe the IHR is non-taxable and therefore is not declared., however holiday pay and the Pay In Lieu of Notice if I recall correctly is taxable income. However I would advise you to confirm this with Inland Revenue.
If you are unable to work still due to ill-health then you will need to investigate ESA and mobility allowances etc .You can get online help at gov.uk but I would strongly advise also going to your nearest Citizens Advice bureau and/ or Claimants Advice centre etc.where you will get expert advice.

Please note that I left RM over a year ago and there may have been changes to benefits rules/amounts since then. The above was my experience but you should seek advice from an expert to be safe :Very Happy
Good luck Wessex

Do as I did tell no one about the money then spend some on nice holidays to get rid of the stress of all them years working for the bully club. Wait a year and if you still can't work claim your pension then get another lump sum and money at the end of each month. Every pound is worth 23 but u get 3 choices from the pension buckos. Rem tell no one about the money.
rmld.....
