Meeting to debate postal services - Plymouth Argyle

A public meeting is taking place to debate the future of postal services across the region.

The Communication Workers Union has launched a campaign to highlight the threat to the UK’s universal postal service and jobs within the industry.

As a result a meeting has been arranged for members of the public, business users and postal workers to have a say.

The CWU say it is refusing to sit by and let the debate take place without the input of the public and businesses that use Royal Mail everyday.

The meeting will highlight a broad range of issues including: CWU Campaign against privatisation, the threat to the one price goes anywhere service, the impact of competition on The Royal Mail and the role of the postal industry regulator OFCOM.

It is taking place on Monday December 17 at 7pm at Plymouth Argyle’s Green Taverners Suite.

Invited speakers include Billy Hayes, CWU general secretary, Kevin Beazer CWU regional secretary, local MPs and local business leaders.
