Tracked Items

When delivering these tracked items which state please put in a safe place or in garage in shed etc.... Whats the deal with this? Shouldn't you always card the person if they are not out. Say you delivered a tracked item into a safe place (not an official one - but you get the jist) and they claim the didn't receive it surely you will be down the conduct code line or possibly worse?

If the Tracked item says leave in a specific place then you can do it, you can also deliver it to a neighbour if you want..............otherwise you card it and bring it back.

ok say this particular situation arrises. A postman has a tracked item, they delivery it to a safeplace. However, that item was delivered to the wrong address and the homeowner denies receiving it, the person who it should have gone to rings up wondering where their item is. Whats the deal here?

Don't deliver it to the wrong house.............not too difficult, plus, the safeplace would be different.

Just p739 it is at your discretion don't go that extra mile it is not worth the hassle

Personally,although i've never had a 'leave behind the plant pot' safeplace instruction,if i think the safe place given is not safe,i would card it.

We had this bollox when the BT tracked 1st came out a few years ago,our instructions were to use our loaf and leave in a place we thought was safe so the number of 1st time delivered was as high as possible,although slightly different to an 'official' customer safe place instruction we ignored it and carded pratically most of them.

We try to card what we can, it's such a grey area leaving items and we've been given different instructions by different managers.

Couple that with the time restraints and the fact they started to try pinch hours off our PHG, for our DO its safer for everyone to just return the item.

When Royal Mail actually give us some solid instructions maybe we will change..

As most will know when tracked first came out we had very few PDAs and so the bulk men did the tracked - in some instances they were showing as delivered on the PDA and giving it to the postman to actually deliver if it fitted through the letterbox...............UNTIL one postman delivered it to the wrong address, which also happened to be an empty house - it was recovered BUT it took a while and some considerable buggering about and that put an end to that.

No, but it's no bigger than my front room and, yes, such small offices probably won't be about for much longer.
