I am currently working full time for Royal Mail as a postman and have been for 11 years. I would like to transfer to another office. They are currently advertising for a 25 hour per week job on a 6 month contract.
My question is if I got the job would I go from having a full contract to a 6 month contract?
Also do I go to my manager about the job or apply on the royal mail job website.

wouldnt have thought youd be kept on after 6 months f they are looking to reduce numbers.
thought they didnt 3 month contracts so 6 does seem like someone is on maternity leave.??

I transfered 4 years ago. I was on a 40 hr full time permenant contract. I went to a 25 hr contract. I needed to transfer for family reasons so it was a question of take it or leave it. Contact the office/s where you want to go directly,you may get lucky.

Was told you can't go directly from permanent to fixed term, was told the only way was to resign and apply for the post as an outsider, taking your chances with the rest of the applicants. This was from our DOM so could well be totally wrong.

ive been told full timers cannot get a transfer. ob if u a full timer and want to go part time then yep off you go. you still be employed by r.m but chances are you never be full time again

To be fair you can only go for whatever is available,so IF there is a full time job going,you can go for it.
So of course a full timer can transfer to another office full time.......IF there is a full time job on offer,and those already there don't want it,or there is no waiting list.
