Filling a vacancy caused by dismissal.

We recently had a FT colleague dismissed due to concerns over 'a compromise of the integrity of mail'. I have been assured by the DOM and DSM that the resulting vacancy will be advertised and filled.

My question is, what is to be done in the meantime about covering the hours lost? I have not heard from the individual concerned with regards to appealing the decision. I don't believe the Area reps have heard from him either.

I imagine there is technically no vacancy as of yet, until the appeal process is concluded. Or am I wrong?

Should the IPS/prep hours be covered on OT? Should it be a temporary FT contract?

We've lost 5 full timers on last few weeks not one of thems been replaced ,surely these duties should go up?!
