Day off

Back in late January early February, can't remember the exact date, my wife asked me if I wanted to go on a school trip as a chaperone, at the school she teaches at. I did the same thing last year.

Anyway, cut to the chase, as soon as I knew what days I needed off I went into to work and did the usual bit of wheeling and dealing in order to get the time off I needed. So to give you a more detailed idea I'll explain what I needed off.
The trip leaves on Friday 19th October and returns on Tuesday 23rd so as my day off that week fell on the sat 20th all I needed to do was get the week commencing 21st off, which I did, and then someone to cover me for the Friday 19th. I managed to get cover for the Friday, and we arranged a day that I would cover for him to make up for it, which I have since worked.

I also let my line manager know who said no problem just remind him nearer time. Which I have TWICE.

The recent problem I have run into is that because at our place we work in pairs and my partner doesn't drive and the person I asked to cover me Friday doesnt drive either, ( I mentioned this to my manager at the time) it leaves a situation where there may need to be some tinkering done.
So another person who can drive was going to work with my partner to cover my duty and the person who was coming in Friday to cover for me who doesn't drive will work elsewhere. ( which he knew about) So today I find out that this person who CAN DRIVE and covering my duty has to train a new person up for the week, therefore meaning that even though the original person who I've actually swapped with and is coming in work to cover for me he can't do my duty as neither he nor my partner drive.

To add insult to injury we have no manager in this week so I can't even take it up with them. I even reminded my manager last week whatwas going to happen with the date ( wrote it down for him) and even put the situation that the person covering can't drive just so he could sort something in advance as I think he forgot that I told him what I was doing back in feb. he assured me it's no problem.

The fact of the matter is that I will still be going on this school trip to Madrid as it was booked about 8 months ago. Flight, hotel. CRB check etc. I just don't want to come back to work and have to go on a stage because the Friday wasn't covered properly, even though it was.

Where do I stand with this matter??

You've given him eight months notice, and he say's it's no problem. Get yourself off to Madrid and let your lino sort it out.
