Wonder if any one could advise me on where i stand?
The situation is i`m on a 30 hour contract and have been for nearly 6 years, been told quite alot that i`ll be getting a full time contract but nothing ever comes of it. What i don`t see fair is our union rep and one other applied for 2 jobs in the locker and got the jobs. These locker duties are full time duties so the 2 that got the jobs have been made up. I`ve 2 to 3 years service on these guys! Going back nearly 3 years ago we had a repick and i picked a full time duty but WAS never made up to full time. I`ve spoke to our dom about this situation and he`s told me to forget about the duty i picked because we`ve another on the horizon in the near future, was also told to change my attitude as i was heading down the wrong path(6 years of nothing but a clean record). I also questioned the union rep about the situation of seniority to which he replied "its not done on seniority now"
I`ve had contact with the regional rep but this will be the 3rd week of not hearing anything back!
Any advice would be much appreciated.

It sounds like your union rep is being a bit of a pillock and saying this to you to meet his own ends (if he wanted these two in the locker) We had a revision fairly recently this was all decided on seniority.
We have a few duties coming up soon and these are being done via seniority, I'm pretty sure if things arn't done this way the union guys kick up a fuss.
A little relevant to your issue I was on part time hours when 2 people were put up to full time before me, when i found out i approached my manager and politely asked him why this was the case and i had been "over looked" as he put it. so i went to our rep who told me to ask him again which i did a couple of times over about a 3 month period (i'm quite patient) i was told that he had brought the subject up to the area manager and he had refused to increase my hours.
I asked my union rep what i should do and he suggested a polite letter telling the manager that i will pursue the matter through an industrial tribunal if nothing was done pretty quickly.
I explained to the manager it was nothing personal but i want his area manager to realise i'm being quite serious, couple of weeks later i was full time hours.

I would guess now that you need to go to DIV level,stating the bleedin' obvious your DOM is doing you over.
Have you been getting sick/holiday pay at the 30hr rate for 3 years and doing a full time duty...............which you signed for,then you are owed at least some holidays backdated.

The locker jobs where afternoon so with kids they would be no good for me.
Nothing was signed for, there was a few full time duties available in the revision pick so i thought if i picked one then the hours where in the office for me to be made up. We`ve had so many people leave/retire but they just don`t get replaced, we must have near to 10 vacant duties and for the size of the office thats alot! Been told on numerous occasions that i will be made up but the goal posts continue to be moved! Pretty much done full time for a good few years appart from leave weeks but our new DOM arrived a couple off months ago and he`s cut all the part timers hours. He`s quite happy to have full timers in on there rest weeks to cover, i`ve seen at the least 2 and at the most 5 so the hours and lets not forget about the agency staff we have in daily! The DOM did offer me the overtime but unlike the full timers my overtime would be all outdoor starting at 9 till 5, thats pretty much accross the board!
Its really disheartening that after 6 years of working hard you get nothing for it and a new DOM thats been in the office for 2 minutes tells you to change your attitude because your going down the wrong path!

Not sure I understand. If you picked a full time duty under a re-pick and got it on your seniority - why are you still part time?
If your'e not getting answers locally you need to speak to your area or divisional rep.
As for the locker jobs - they are normally regarded as specialist posts and would go to the senior most suitable applicant. Jobs that do not require specialist skills are resourced on common seniority. If the two locker jobs were filled by full time employees - what happened to the resultant vacancies?

I`ve had a brief phone conversation with the area rep today so hopefully the ball will start to roll! My problem is the locker jobs were given to 2 part timers(no problem with that)they applied and got the possition, my problem is that they`ve been made up due to having a full time duty, 3 years ago i picked a full time duty but never got made up! I`ve nearly 3 years service on these guys.
