Just want to know if reserves can use their seniority when it comes to picking duties. I am a reserve and been with the company 8 years and feel I am not getting a good deal when it comes to the duties I am on.

In my place they do,duties as a rule are picked by seniority so why can't reserves do the same.
You 'should' have a reserve seniority list.

theys no list for leave reserves your entitled to pick on the lenght of time youve work for the company , weve done p&l for nearly 2 years now and on the repick even 31 hour men was picking full dutys , and i was already a reserve with 9+ years service and didnt get a duty so iam still a reserve (office bitch) no long weekends , mondays and tuesdays off every week and a different round everyday. i thank the union for this .

In my office there are 17 reserves and I am reserve 3. Another thing is they gathered all the reserves just before the last 3 bank holidays and told us our days off are the bank holiday even although we were on dutys with different days off.

If 17 angry guys walk up to a rep it's unlikely he'll stay uninterested for long.
But it does take all 17 not 1 or 2 while the rest just stare at their shoes.

This may well be. However most reps do the duty board with the DOM and use seniority. The reserves pick their walks. Not all reps are on the gravy train,(or whatever). It annoys me no end when members say this. Unit reps are the backbone and work 7 days a week in some cases.

and it does mine in when I hear about great reps.
we don't have them. Ours don't do anything about the way reserves are treated.

Reminds me of the times I was allowed in WTL, up you chirp with the obvious complaint or dissatisfaction, whilst everyone sits and stares only to be confronted with a tirade of complaint once it's over. Why they wouldn't say anything whilst the the thing was in progress I have no idea because they were plenty vociferous after.

I have said many times.
I don't have the time or the interest to be a rep.
I believe it should be someone able to commit to it.
However It seems all the reps i see/interact with are in it for themselves

This may be true. I do not have the evidence to deny it either. The evidence I do have is some members think unit reps get paid. They don't. You seem to say that a rep should "commit"? A rep will commit knowing full well that his members are behind them. It sounds to me that you are certainly not and are painting a large brush over all reps.

For example,this site. It's maintained by reps,at no extra cost and considerable time. It's a brilliant forum for us and helpful to other reps,( and believe me there are loads of reps on here).

If I compared,(and I am just using the large brush again), the amount of non commited members to non commited reps, I wonder what that number would be? I am sure of this as there are plenty of offices that are being trampled over judging by stories on here. Bad reps? Nope! It's offices that will not go to disagreement as the chances of a yes vote on a ballot is slim & none, (and slim left town!).

I have known unit reps be bullied,suspended and sacked, and ill health due to stress yet still come back to represent their members.

You also mention that you do not have the interest to be a rep? Well judging by your initial comment you seem to "selectively" pick out "what their responsibility's" are.

lets be stright. I fight my corner(I have no choice given the level of support)
I'll be there at evey break(the reps in my office couldnt say the same)
I will be in bang on time,wont work over and work my hours
no cars,no cutting corners etc.
infact I am the perfect member from a union stance(if you believe the do the job properly line)
The reps(thats plural) in this DO have good duties. one works 4 days a week as they have some course one day a week.
they will happily shaft any other postie for their own gains.(from observation and having had it done to me)
I speak for all the reserves in the office(Im not actually a reserve as such,complicated story) as I see how they get treated every day.

also be aware. I have been through dismissal and reinstatement. I got all my support from this forum.
noe from the union. so no need to tell tme of the support here.
