how much notice to give on change of hours

just putting this question to the forum to get back sensable replies please

does royal mail have to give 28 days notice on change of attendance times. starting at seven instead of six for example

the reason i ask is that the attendance times change has allready been notified to the staff nationally via national agreement etc when mail from the CSS MACHINE FOR EXAMPLE is given to the staff. especially if the delivery office is an MPU.

OR DOES ROYAL MAIL HAVE TO GIVE 28 DAYS NOTICE PRIOR TO THE ACTUAL CHANGE

one office is an mpu and has a CSS machine installed. it sequenced mail for two other offices. the mail centre has now stated that it wants mail for the other two offices sequenced on a saturday. thats fine but the office is on a 7 hour day still on a saturday.

when this was brought up with the planners, the arrogant resonse was we will do the 7 hour 48 accross the week now. the office is still on the 40 hour week, not 39

Here is my understanding of it:

Yes they should give you 28 days notice.
If you are unhappy you go to disagreement - and there is your 28 days to go through the process - assuming you get the appropriate support from Area and Divisional Level. Good luck with that.
There is no national agreement to move to a 7am start.
The introduction of sequenced mail may lead to later starts but that would depend on wave 2 arrival time and delivery span and full-time/part-time ratio.

We were given zero working days notice. Letter arrived on a Sat morning with revised times starting on Monday. Told it had been signed off by local rep prior to christmas. Local rep did not inform the membership. Area rep went in and checked what had been signed off and said there was no more could be done, as local rep had authority to sign off. So the membership no longer have a say in local agreements, it is all down to the local rep. Is this really what the cwu has become?

thats a disgrace

you have to give the staff 28 days notice or less by agreement.

by that ime talking a few weeks if the staff are all ready prepared and expecting the change

to impose it with a few days notice is just plain wrong

Keith it wasn,t even a few days notice. I received the letter on return from work on Saturday (mid afternoon) and on Monday morning expected to change from a start time of 7.45am to 9am.
